If you're like me and are going through many life changes, sometimes making an effort to conserve funds is more than a fabulous thing to do.
I enjoy DIY projects because it gives us the opportunity to use our creative skills and transform a household object into our own personal vision. I was working on a DIY project of my own last night and realized the depth of possibilities that come with travelling the yellow brick road of DIY projects. I already had most of the tools in my house from moving and the extra materials cost under $12. You heard right, sister.

Take a look at a few great starter DIY projects below:
A mirrored set of planters. (theartofdoingstuff.com)
A chest converted into a functional filing cabinet for any room. A "Mini Office in a Chest". How nice is the idea of having photos line the inside of the chest cover? (via MarthaStewart.com)
If you happen to be a wine drinker, you may like this one. An old soup crate was found at a tag sale for $2 and converted into a beautiful, rustic, wine rack. (via apartmenttherapy.com) Love this one.
A vintage-suitcase was converted into a coffee table with storage. This is simple and pure creativity. (designspongeonline.com)
Clothespins turned into mantle bowl. This is awesome. I recommend checking out The Art of Doing Stuff right away for easy but fruitful DIY projects.
*BONUS*
A hanging bench. This was created by cutting off the legs of a bench found at Ikea, drilling holes and using sturdy ropes to attach to a tree. Gorgeous! (via apartmenttherapy.com)
Hoping to share my latest DIY project by this Monday so look forward to it!
